Many veterans in Central Arkansas are entitled to help at home and do not know it, or know it and cannot face the paperwork. We provide the care itself, and we help you work through the programs that can fund it.

Understanding VA benefits

Two programs come up most often. Veteran-Directed Care gives an eligible veteran a budget and the say over who provides their care, which can include an agency like ours. Aid & Attendance is an addition to a VA pension for veterans and surviving spouses who need help with daily living, and it can be used to pay for home care.

Neither is automatic, and both involve forms, evidence and waiting. We will walk it with you: which office to contact, what they will ask for, and what a realistic timeline looks like. We do not charge for that conversation.

The care itself is the same care we give every family: the same caregiver each visit, a written plan you approve, and an owner you can reach.

Who it helps

Veterans who want to stay at homeHelp with washing, dressing, meals and the house, from people who respect the routines and the pride that come with service.
Surviving spousesAid & Attendance can extend to a surviving spouse. Many do not know that, and many would qualify.

What your first visit looks like

We meet at homeCharlotte visits, meets the veteran, and listens to what a normal day involves and where it gets difficult.
We look at funding togetherIf you think VA benefits may apply, bring what paperwork you have. We will tell you what is missing and where to send it.
We write the planTasks, times and preferences in plain language. You approve it before anything starts.
You meet the caregiverAn introduction before the first working visit, so nobody arrives as a stranger.

A note on eligibility

Eligibility for VA programs is decided by the Department of Veterans Affairs, not by us. We will help you understand the rules and prepare the application, and we will be honest if we think a program is unlikely to apply. If care needs to begin before a decision arrives, we can start on a private-pay basis and adjust once the benefit is in place.

Questions families ask

Does the VA pay for home care?

It can, through programs such as Veteran-Directed Care and Aid & Attendance, for veterans and surviving spouses who qualify. Medicare generally does not. We will help you find out which, if any, applies to your situation.

Do you drive to the VA hospital?

Yes. Transportation to VA appointments is part of what we do, including waiting during the appointment and helping in and out of the building.

Can care start before the VA decides?

Yes. Many families start privately and switch the funding later. Nothing about the care changes when the paperwork does.

Do you help with the application itself?

We help you understand what is being asked, gather what you already have, and point you to the right office. An accredited Veterans Service Officer can complete the formal claim with you at no cost, and we will help you find one.
