Welcome

Hello, and welcome to Charlotte's Home Care

We are glad you found us. Choosing help for someone you love is a tender decision, and we want the first step to feel simple.

Charlotte's Home Care is a family-owned, non-medical home care agency here in Little Rock, founded by Charlotte Butler-Rice after more than 25 years in home care. She started out on her own in 2011 and built the agency the way she still runs it: personally. We support seniors who want to stay independent, adults living with a disability, veterans and their families, and anyone recovering from an illness, an injury or surgery. Our caregivers help with the everyday things that make home feel manageable again, from a morning routine to a warm meal to a ride to the doctor.

Because we are small, you get the same faces and the same point of contact every time. That is the whole idea, and it is the part large agencies find hardest to deliver.

The difference

Why families here choose a small agency

Home care is unusual among services, because quality depends almost entirely on one thing: whether the same person keeps coming back. Everything else in the brochure stops mattering when they do not.

A small family-owned agency

The same caregiver, week after week
You reach an owner who knows your family by name
Changes to the plan agreed the same day
Caregivers who live in the same towns you do
An honest answer when we are not the right fit

What families tell us they left behind

A different face in the hallway most weeks
A call center, and repeating the story each time
Schedule changes nobody warned them about
Being handed between departments for a simple answer
A package sold before anyone visited the house

Family-owned

Charlotte owns the agency and runs it. That is not a marketing position, it is the operating model.

Rooted here

We know the hospitals, the neighborhoods, and the drive between Benton and Cabot on a Friday afternoon.

Care that adapts

Hours change, recovery speeds up, a hospital stay happens. We adjust without a month of paperwork.

Out of the house

Errands, the store, the salon and a walk around the block. Staying home should not mean staying indoors.

How it starts

Getting started is simple

Four steps, no obligation at any point, and nothing begins until you have read and agreed the plan in writing.

STEP 01

Tell us what is going on

One message or one form. No pressure, no obligation to book anything, and no cost for the conversation.

STEP 02

We visit at home

We sit down together, meet your loved one, and look at how the day really runs rather than how a form describes it.

STEP 03

We write the care plan

Tasks, timings and preferences, in plain language. You read it and approve it before anyone starts.

STEP 04

Care begins

You meet the caregiver before the first working visit, and we stay in touch to see how it is settling in.

When to call

Families reach out at moments like these

Most people contact us the week something changes. If any of this sounds like your household, it is a good time to talk, and it is usually easier before a crisis than after one.

Mornings have become the hard partShe is managing the rest of the day, but washing and dressing now take everything she has.

Coming home from hospitalHe should not be on his own for a few weeks, and the discharge date came sooner than anyone expected.

You are running on emptyYou have been the caregiver for months, you are not sleeping, and you have stopped seeing your own friends.

You live out of stateYou want eyes on the house a few days a week, and someone who will tell you honestly what they see.

An adult child needs daily supportSteady, respectful help at home for an adult living with a disability, built around what they can already do.

The house has gone quietAfter a spouse dies, the days lose their shape. Regular company does more than people expect.

Paying for care

What shapes the cost of home care

Home care is priced by the hour, and the honest answer is that it depends on how much help is needed and how often. Here is what moves the number, so nothing on your bill is a surprise.

We quote you plainly after the home visit, in writing, before any care starts. Most families begin with fewer hours than they expect and add to it once everyone has settled. If home care is not the right fit for your situation, we will tell you that too.

Hours per weekThe biggest single factor

A few mornings a week costs considerably less than daily cover.

Type of helpHands-on or alongside

Companionship and hands-on personal care are different kinds of visit.

Time of dayEvenings and weekends

Overnight and weekend cover is arranged differently to weekday mornings.

Good questions

Questions Arkansas families ask us

These are the questions families actually put to us first. If yours is not here, ask it. We would rather answer honestly than have you guess.

What is non-medical home care?

Non-medical home care is help with daily living rather than medical treatment. A caregiver assists with bathing, dressing, meals, laundry, errands, reminders and company. It is different from home health, which is clinical care ordered by a doctor and delivered by nurses or therapists. Many families use one, some use both, and the two work fine alongside each other.

What is the difference between home care and home health?

Home care is practical and personal support with everyday life. Home health is clinical: wound care, injections, physical therapy, nursing assessments. We provide home care only. If your loved one needs clinical care we will say so rather than stretching what we do.

Who pays for home care?
Most families start with private pay, meaning they pay us directly by the hour. Some use a long-term care insurance policy. Veterans and surviving spouses may qualify for VA programs such as Veteran-Directed Care or Aid & Attendance, and we help families work through those. Medicare generally does not cover non-medical home care, which surprises a lot of people, so we will always be straight with you about that on the first call. Medicaid services are coming soon.
Why choose Charlotte's Home Care?

Because we are small and local, and we intend to stay that way. You will not be handed between departments. The person who reads your enquiry knows your family's situation, your caregiver stays the same week to week, and decisions get made the same day rather than escalated somewhere else.

How do I know when my loved one needs help?

The signs are usually quiet ones. Mail piling up, the same shirt worn several days running, food going out of date in the fridge, missed appointments, or a fall that got brushed off. If you have started worrying between visits, that is usually the moment to have a conversation.

Can a family member get paid to be a caregiver in Arkansas?

In some circumstances, yes. Arkansas runs programs that let an eligible person direct their own care and choose who provides it, which can include a family member. Eligibility rules are specific and they change, so we will point you to the right state office rather than guess at your situation.

How quickly can care start?

It depends on the hours you need and where you live. Tell us what you are looking for and we will give you a real answer, including if the honest answer is that we cannot cover it yet.

What if we need to change or cancel a visit?

Life moves. Contact us and we will rearrange. We will explain any notice period plainly in your service agreement so there is nothing buried in small print.
